Built in 2022, the E.A. Fernandez IDEA Factory is the main workspace of UMD Loop. The space houses the rover itself, the Arm and Science attachments, and features fume hoods, a full machine shop, and storage space.
The Institute for Physical Science and Technology serves as the main research facility for UMD Loop. The space is currently being used to research electric and magnetic components for custom-built motors for the rover.
