University Rover Challenge 2
Spring 2025
UMD Loop's second URC competition was held in Spring 2025, and focused on refining and improving the previous rover. The chassis, suspension, and drive were fully redesigning for better navigation and stability in Utah. The team was half a point shy from making the final competition, but made immediate progress towards the third University Rover Challenge.

University Rover Challenge 1

Spring 2024

The University Rover Challenge was held in Spring 2024, and focused on designing and building a fully functional Mars rover to compete against other universities in Hanksville, Utah. The rover was designed to complete a series of missions throughout the competition. Although the team did not make the final competition, a fully functional rover was completed in time for Maryland Day.

Not-A-Boring Competition 1
June 2021
The Not-A-Boring competition was held in June 2021, and focused on building a tunneling machine that could be used to create tunnels for transportation and utilities. The competition was held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

HyperLoop Competition 4
July 2019
The fourth Hyperloop competition was held in July 2019, and focused on building a full-scale pod that could carry passengers. The competition was held at SpaceX's headquarters in Hawthorne, California, and was judged based on speed, safety, and design.

August 2017
The second Hyperloop competition took place in August 2017, and focused on achieving maximum speed. The competition was held at SpaceX's headquarters in Hawthorne, California, and was judged based on the pod's speed, safety, and design.

January 2017
The first Hyperloop competition was held in January 2017, where teams from around the world competed to design and build the best pod. The competition was held at SpaceX's headquarters in Hawthorne, California, and was judged based on speed, safety, and design.
